Stanford Big-Data Initiative In International Macro-Finance
This initiative brings together each year a diverse group of 30 PhD students from schools worldwide for a three-day workshop on big data research in international macro-finance. Large-scale empirical work often presents specific challenges for PhD students entering the field. This initiative seeks to lower these barriers to entry by sharing knowledge, codes, and data as a starter-kit for new researchers. The Initiative is held at Stanford and is generously funded by the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation, Stanford GSB, and GCAP Lab. Co-organizers: Jesse Schreger (Columbia).
Chicago International Macro Finance Conference
This conference brings together a small group of young faculty working at the intersection of international finance and international macro to discuss early stage research in an informal setting. The conference is sponsored by the International Economics Initiative at the Becker Friedman Institute at the University of Chicago and has been held in Chicago each year since 2013 in November/December. Co-organizers: Loukas Karabarbounis (Minnesota), Tarek Hassan (Boston University), and Brent Neiman (Chicago).
